FMO has partnered with Kernel, a leading agricultural company in Ukraine, marking its first direct investment in the country since the war began, to enhance the agricultural sector and support local farmers.

Kernel is recognized as a global leader in sunflower oil production and exports, as well as the largest grain exporter from Ukraine. In the 2024 fiscal year, Kernel successfully exported 8 million tons of agricultural products to international markets, which constituted approximately 9% of the global sunflower oil exports. This extensive reach ensures Kernel’s products are supplied to 60 countries worldwide, highlighting its significant role in the global agricultural supply chain.
The company plays a vital role in the Ukrainian economy, particularly within the agri-sector, which accounts for around 10% of the nation’s GDP. Kernel's operations not only contribute to the agricultural landscape but also enhance employment opportunities, providing jobs for a substantial portion of the Ukrainian workforce.
