TLP4 Australian Holdings has successfully acquired Yeeda Pastoral Company for $55 million, aiming to revitalize the meat processing industry in northern Australia.
Target Information
The recently completed sale of Yeeda Pastoral Company, a significant player in the northern Australian beef industry, marks a pivotal moment for meat processing in the region. The company, which includes its subsidiary, the Kimberley Meat Company (KMC), has been acquired for $55 million by TLP4 Australian Holdings, a subsidiary of the Alberta Investment Management Corporation, a Canadian government-owned investment fund. Yeeda Pastoral Company was at the forefront of beef production in northern Western Australia but faced considerable financial challenges prior to the sale, including over $100 million in debt and severe allegations concerning animal welfare and environmental compliance.
The Kimberley Meat Company, located approximately 100 kilometers east of Broome, was the only operational abattoir in northern Western Australia until its closure in February 2024 due to escalating cattle prices and supply constraints. Established in 2016, KMC had aimed to serve local cattle farmers but ultimately was unable to sustain operations, leading to its current acquisition under TLP4's management.
