Elders Limited has received ACCC approval for its $475 million acquisition of competitor Delta Agribusiness, contingent upon divesting six stores to ensure market competition.
Target Information
Elders Limited has received approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for its planned $475 million acquisition of Delta Agribusiness, one of its primary competitors in the agribusiness sector. Elders is recognized as the second-largest agribusiness in Australia, operating a network of 245 retail stores nationwide. Delta operates 68 stores across New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia, contributing significantly to the agricultural supply chain by offering chemicals, seed, fertiliser, animal products, and agronomy services to farmers.
This acquisition will increase Elders' footprint in the agribusiness market to a total of 304 farm supply retail stores across the country. The ACCC's approval comes with a stipulation that Elders must divest six Delta stores in Western Australia to alleviate competition concerns in the region.
