CEECAT Capital has acquired a majority stake in Gomex, a leading grocery retailer based in Serbia. Founded in 1997 by Goran Kovacevic in Zrenjanin, Gomex has established itself as a modern retail chain known for its everyday fresh concept and convenience store format. The company has successfully expanded its operations in the Vojvodina region as well as Central Serbia, thanks in part to an earlier investment from SEAF South Balkan Fund in 2007.
With approximately 2,500 employees, Gomex is now one of the key employers in Serbia. The retailer has embraced technology to enhance customer loyalty, developing tools such as a proprietary loyalty application that rewards frequent shoppers, thus driving customer engagement and retention.
