Wien Energie has acquired ImWind to bolster its renewable energy portfolio, aiming to significantly increase green energy production and provide a stable energy supply to Vienna households.
Target Information
Wien Energie has acquired the local company ImWind, which owns 52 wind power plants and 4 large photovoltaic installations. Despite the acquisition, ImWind will continue to operate as a separate entity with around 100 employees, maintaining its brand identity.
By 2030, Wien Energie aims to operate wind, solar, and hydropower facilities at up to 200 locations in Austria through ImWind. This initiative will more than double the output of renewable energy to approximately 1,800 megawatts, sufficient to supply all households in Vienna with green electricity.
