The American multinational Sherwin-Williams has announced its acquisition of the architectural paint business of BASF in Brazil, which includes the well-known Suvinil brand, for a total consideration of $1.15 billion. The transaction will be executed entirely in cash and is expected to be finalized in the second half of 2025, pending approval from Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE).
With this acquisition, Sherwin-Williams enhances its portfolio with one of the most recognized brands in the industry, solidifying its position in the Brazilian paint market. In 2024, Suvinil recorded revenue of approximately $525 million and employs around 1,000 staff members, operating from two strategically located factories in the Northeast and Southeast regions of the country.
