OMV and Masdar have entered into a joint venture focused on the development and operation of a new electrolyzer plant in Bruck an der Leitha, Austria. This project, which will produce 140 MW of green hydrogen, represents a substantial milestone in OMV's commitment to sustainability and aligns with their goals for reducing carbon emissions at their Schwechat refinery. The facility is poised to be among the largest green hydrogen production sites in Europe and is expected to be operational by 2027.
The joint venture will see OMV hold a majority stake, while Masdar will own 49 percent.
