The acquisition was executed through RIU’s UK subsidiary, HSF London Ltd, which purchased the entire issued share capital of Carolia Westminster Hotel Limited for a headline price of £287 million. The previous owners included a consortium of Westmont Hospitality, BHP, and PPF Real Estate, who were advised by JLL during the transaction.
The Westminster Hotel, now rebranded as Riu Plaza London - The Westminster, boasts 464 rooms and is strategically located just one minute from the River Thames and Tate Britain. It is also within walking distance of iconic landmarks such as Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, and Big Ben. Originally constructed in 2003, the hotel underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2021, joining the Curio Collection by Hilton prior to its acquisition by RIU.
