Equinix, Inc., recognized as the world’s leading digital infrastructure company, has made a significant move in India by signing its first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with CleanMax, a prominent renewable energy provider in the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector backed by Brookfield. This partnership is set to establish a 33 MW Captive Power Plant in Maharashtra, which will supply renewable energy to power Equinix’s expanding portfolio of data centers in Mumbai, thereby contributing to India's sustainable energy goals.
The Captive Power Project will consist of a combination of 26.4 MW of solar energy and 6.6 MW of wind energy, with full operations expected to commence in phases by 2025. This initiative is part of Equinix’s strategy to incorporate renewable energy into its operations, addressing the rising demand associated with the growing data center industry fueled by AI advances in Mumbai.
