The Spanish Ministry of Defence has placed an order for 100 Airbus helicopters through the Directorate General for Armament and Material (DGAM). This initiative is part of the National Helicopter Plan announced in May, aimed at modernizing Spain's defense and security capabilities. The order, which represents the largest helicopter acquisition by the DGAM to date, includes various models tailored for the three branches of the Spanish Armed Forces, enhancing their operational capabilities.
The helicopters ordered include 13 H135 models for advanced pilot training and utility missions, 50 H145M helicopters for the Spanish Army intended for military training and light attack, 6 H175M helicopters for governmental missions, and 31 NH90 helicopters designed for tactical transport and special operations. This diversified approach aligns with Spain’s strategic push for national security and defense autonomy.
