Information on the target
Sosteneo SGR, a subsidiary of Generali Investments, has made a significant entry into the German wind energy market by establishing ENOVA Generation. This new operational platform encompasses eleven onshore wind projects with a total capacity of approximately 350 MW. This investment marks the inaugural deployment of capital from Sosteneo's second flagship fund, Fund II.
The acquired portfolio presents a balanced mix of risk and return, with 40% of the facilities already operational and generating immediate cash flows. The remaining 60% is either under construction or nearing the final investment decision. All projects benefit from guaranteed remuneration under the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) for a period of 20 years, providing Sosteneo with strategic revenue visibility.
Industry overview in the target’s specific country
The Wind Systems & Equipment industry in Germany is at the forefront of the renewable energy transition in Europe. As the largest market for wind power in the continent, Germany has seen substantial investments in both onshore and offshore wind projects. The country’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and increasing the share of renewables in its energy mix has led to a robust regulatory framework that supports the growth of wind energy.
Germany's wind energy sector is characterized by a significant number of aging installations from the 1990s and early 2000s, which are approaching the end of their feed-in tariff agreements under the EEG. This situation has created a structural opportunity for repowering existing sites, as operators seek to modernize their facilities and enhance efficiency. The demand for capital to upgrade these aging assets is expected to rise, presenting a favorable environment for investment.
Furthermore, the German government has set ambitious targets for expanding renewable energy capacity, aiming for a substantial increase in the share of wind power in the overall energy mix. This policy direction is bolstered by public support for green energy initiatives, making the wind systems and equipment sector a critical component of Germany's energy strategy.
As the market evolves, technological advancements in wind turbine design and efficiency are expected to drive further growth. The integration of digital technologies and smart…
