JDSC has transferred its entire stake in the maritime data platform Seawise to Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, increasing Tsuneishi's ownership to 80%, in a strategic move to optimize its business portfolio.
Target Information
JDSC Inc. has announced the transfer of its entire stake in Seawise, a maritime data platform based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, to the shipbuilder, Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. This decision comes after JDSC evaluated the stability and self-sufficiency of Seawise's operations, leading to an optimization of its business portfolio through a stock transfer. JDSC will transfer 100% of its stake, which constitutes 40% of the company, effectively increasing Tsuneishi's ownership from 40% to 80%, thereby making Seawise a subsidiary of Tsuneishi.
Seawise was established in November 2022 as a joint venture among JDSC, Tsuneishi, and Mitsui & Co. The platform aims to address challenges in the maritime industry by utilizing artificial intelligence to enhance the operational value of vessels. Seawise provides shipowners with a data management and utilization infrastructure, supporting the maritime sector with innovative solutions. The company’s net assets are estimated to be approximately 595 million yen as of March 2025.
