RMB has facilitated an R8.5 billion multi-purpose facility for Anthem, enhancing its position as a leading player in South Africa's renewable energy sector.
Target Company Overview
Anthem, a recently launched renewable energy enterprise, has secured an R8.5 billion multi-purpose facility in collaboration with RMB. This facility positions Anthem as one of South Africa's largest and most diversified independent power producers (IPPs). The company was established through the merger of African Clean Energy Developments (ACED) and Energy Infrastructure Management Services (EIMS Africa), both renowned entities within the R30 billion IDEAS Fund, which is managed by Old Mutual's African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM). The merger significantly enhances Anthem's capabilities, solidifying its role in South Africa's transition toward clean energy.
Anthem specializes in the development, financing, construction, and operation of utility-scale renewable energy projects. Its portfolio encompasses a diverse range of projects, including wind, solar photovoltaic (PV), and battery energy storage solutions. Upon launching, Anthem boasts an impressive 2.7 GW of secured capacity, comprised of 17 operational projects (totaling 1.1 GW), 4 projects currently under construction (445 MW), and 3 additional projects nearing financial closure (1.2 GW). Moreover, the company has an extensive greenfield pipeline exceeding 11 GW currently in development, with a strategic target of achieving 6 GW of capacity by 2030.
