KION Group and Voltas Limited have launched a joint venture in India named Voltas Material Handling, focusing on the development and distribution of forklifts and warehouse technology to capitalize on the country's rapidly growing market.
Target Information
The KION Group GmbH and Voltas Limited have established a joint venture in India focused on the development, manufacturing, distribution, and maintenance of forklifts and warehouse technology. This partnership will see Voltas contribute its forklift and warehouse technology division into the new venture, in which KION will hold a majority stake. The joint venture, named Voltas Material Handling (VMH), is set to commence operations in April 2011.
As the sixth brand of the KION Group, Voltas aims to penetrate the Indian market with its manufacturing capabilities. The product lineup includes diesel, gas, and electric forklifts with load capacities ranging from 1.5 to 16 tons. VMH will establish a significant presence across India with over 25 branches and dealerships.
