The Manah 1 project is a significant solar power initiative located in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate of Oman, approximately 175 km south of Muscat. Spearheaded by a consortium led by EDF Renewables and Korea Western Power Corporation (KOWEPO), this project boasts a capacity of 500 megawatts (MW). The consortium was awarded a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Oman Power and Water Procurement Company on March 23, 2023, and the solar plant is projected to commence commercial operations in the first quarter of 2025.
Manah 1 marks a pivotal development for both EDF Renewables and KOWEPO in Oman, aligning with the country’s Clean Energy Goals and broader Net-Zero ambitions. The project will significantly contribute to diversifying the country's energy generation portfolio, targeting a renewable energy contribution of 35-39% by 2040.
