Duolingo, a leading language learning platform, has successfully acquired the development team from NextBeat, a London-based startup recognized for creating the popular mobile music game BeatStar. This acquisition involves 23 employees from NextBeat, which had emerged as an independent entity from Space Ape Games just a year prior, following its acquisition by Supercell.
In its inception, NextBeat consisted of 30 staff members from Space Ape, making Duolingo’s acquisition of the majority of NextBeat's development team a strategic move to enhance its musical offerings. The integration of this experienced team is expected to significantly contribute to Duolingo's objectives in gamified education and enjoyable user experiences.
