Davie has acquired the Mäntyluoto shipyard from Enersense for approximately 7.5 million euros to enhance Arctic shipbuilding capabilities, securing jobs and promoting industry growth in Finland.
Target Information
The target of this acquisition is the Mäntyluoto shipyard in Pori, Finland, which is a subsidiary of the Finnish company Enersense. This facility has long been underutilized and has experienced several ownership changes over the years, previously being known for its specialization in offshore oil rig platforms. With about 100 employees currently working at the Pori facility, it is anticipated that they will retain their positions under the new ownership structure, although many are currently on temporary furlough.
Davie, a Canadian shipbuilding group that also owns the Helsinki Shipyard, is set to utilize the capabilities of the Mäntyluoto yard to support large-scale Arctic projects. This acquisition comes as part of a larger strategy to enhance Davie's operational capacity within the Arctic shipbuilding sector.
