CWP Global has acquired a 73 MW wind project in Ukraine, investing EUR 76 million, with plans to create 360 jobs and support the country's renewable energy growth towards decarbonization.
Information on the Target
CWP Global has entered the Ukrainian market through the acquisition of a 73 MW wind project located in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine. This initiative represents an investment of EUR 76 million, which is expected to commence construction in 2023. The wind farm will generate approximately 360 jobs during its development phase, contributing significantly to the local economy. CWP Global has a robust track record, having developed nearly 2,000 MW of renewable energy projects across Australia and Southeast Europe, including the largest operational onshore wind farm in Europe and significant projects in Romania and Serbia.
With Ukraine targeting a transition towards renewable energy, the acquisition positions CWP Global strategically within a growing market. In 2015, the share of renewable energy in Ukraine's power generation was only 4%. However, forecasts from the International Energy Agency (IEA) predict that this share could rise to 25% within the next decade, supported by Ukraine's new Energy Strategy focused on enhancing energy infrastructure and integration into European systems by 2025.
