Cloudberry, the first European fund focused on semiconductor technology, has raised €30 million to invest in early-stage companies in this crucial sector.
Target Information
Cloudberry, a Finnish private equity firm, has launched its first fund with a capital of €30 million. This fund is focused on investing in companies that develop semiconductor technology, photonics, and advanced materials, primarily from its offices in Helsinki and London. A notable item about this fund is that it represents the first of its kind in Europe, aimed explicitly at the semiconductor sector.
With backing from anchor investor Tesin, several other entities from Europe, Asia, and the United States have committed capital to the fund. Among these are GlobalFoundries, a leader in semiconductor manufacturing, and Radiant Opto-Electronics, a significant player in the photonics industry. This fund’s launch coincides with the European Union's urgency to enhance semiconductor production capacity under the EU Chips Act, which aims to increase Europe's global market share in semiconductors to 20% by 2030.
