woom, the Austrian children's bicycle manufacturer, has merged with its U.S. importer to accelerate growth and enhance customer service in the rapidly expanding market.
Target Information
woom, an Austrian manufacturer of children's bicycles, was founded in 2013 in a garage in Vienna by cycling enthusiasts Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld, with the goal of making learning to ride a bicycle easier for children. Based in Klosterneuburg, the company now employs around 100 staff and has become a prominent brand in Austria, with one in three newly purchased children's bikes in the country displaying the distinctive woom logo. The product range includes innovative balance and bicycles suitable for children and adolescents aged 2 to 14, offering not only safety and intuitive use but also an enjoyable cycling experience. Over time, woom has expanded its offerings to include off-road bikes, e-mountain bikes, and thoughtful accessories.
Currently, woom operates in 30 countries worldwide and reported a remarkable increase in sales in 2020, with over 200,000 bicycles sold, marking a 63% growth compared to the previous year. As of today, woom has established itself among the fastest-growing bicycle brands in the U.S., selling approximately 50,000 bicycles annually, which accounts for roughly one-sixth of its total production. The recent merger with its U.S. importer, woombikes USA, LLC, aims to accelerate this growth further.
