Zinc is pleased to lead a pre-seed investment round in CellMine, a groundbreaking battery recycling start-up emerging from the prestigious Edinburgh-based innovation hub, Impact Solutions. The company is spearheaded by CEO Simon Rathbone and Technical Director Adam Taylor, who have pioneered an innovative process for recycling lithium-ion batteries—widely used in smartphones, laptops, and electric vehicles—in an efficient, scalable, and eco-friendly manner.
CellMine aims to tackle the rising issue of battery waste that threatens to fill landfills and diminish the industry's dependence on mined metals. This funding will facilitate the scaling of their validated technology, which converts diverse waste battery feedstocks into clean chemical products primed for reintegration into the supply chain.
