Topsoe is investing in a new manufacturing facility for solid oxide electrolyzers with a planned capacity of 500 MW per year, aiming to meet the rising demand for green hydrogen technology.
Information on the Target
Topsoe is set to invest in a new manufacturing facility that will produce highly efficient solid oxide electrolyzers (SOEC), aiming for a total capacity of 500 megawatts per year, with the future option to expand to 5 gigawatts per year. These proprietary SOEC electrolyzers boast efficiencies exceeding 90%, significantly outperforming current alkaline and PEM electrolyzers in the electrolysis of water into hydrogen.
The facility is projected to commence operations by 2023, in response to the increasing demand for advanced electrolysis technology, primarily for green hydrogen production from renewable electricity sources. Construction of this automated manufacturing facility, the largest of its type in the world, is scheduled to begin in 2022.
