The Schaeffler Group has recently acquired the Latvian firm SIA Naco Technologies, located in Riga. Established in 2010 with assistance from the Commercialization Reactor Riga, Naco Technologies specializes in developing advanced coating systems. Notably, the company is recognized for creating one of the fastest processes for physical vapor deposition (PVD), a technology that will enhance Schaeffler’s high-tech vacuum facilities used for PVD and plasma-based PACVD processes, crucial for high-volume production. Currently, Naco Technologies employs six specialists dedicated to this cutting-edge technology.
Under the guidance of co-founder Professor Valery Mitin, who boasts over 40 years of experience in research and production within the nano industry, Naco is well-positioned to contribute significantly to Schaeffler’s product offerings. The acquisition secures not only the advanced technology and prototyping capabilities of Naco but also its skilled workforce, renowned for its expertise in surface coating technologies.
