Prime Healthcare, headquartered in Ontario, California, aims to enhance its presence in Illinois through the acquisition of Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, located in Mishawaka, Indiana. This asset purchase agreement, finalized on January 16, positions this facility as Prime's ninth hospital in Illinois, following their acquisition of eight facilities from Ascension in March 2025.
The facility, which comprises 214 beds, will be integrated into Prime's healthcare system. As part of the agreement, Prime will also acquire Specialty Physicians of Illinois and invest an additional $5 million to support the expansion of medical education at Franciscan. Furthermore, Prime has committed to retaining “substantially all employees” from the Olympia Fields facility.
