Orko Gold Corporation has acquired 100% ownership of the La Preciosa Project in Durango, Mexico, from Goldcorp Inc., further enhancing its position in the silver and gold mining sector.
Information on the Target
La Preciosa is an epithermal vein-hosted silver-gold deposit situated in the eastern region of the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains in north-central Mexico. An independent mineral resource estimate released on January 19, 2006, has verified an Inferred Resource comprising 2.72 million tonnes, with a grade of 0.463 grams of gold per tonne and 227.2 grams of silver per tonne, resulting in a silver-equivalent grade of 255.0 grams per tonne. The total contained metal from the Inferred Resource amounts to 19.9 million ounces of silver and 40,400 ounces of gold, equivalent to approximately 22.3 million ounces of silver, calculated using a 60:1 silver-to-gold ratio.
So far, less than 20% of the targeted area has been drilled, with exploration conducted to a depth of only 300 meters. The deposit is open to further exploration both to the North and South, as well as at depth. Currently, Orko is executing a Phase 3 diamond drill program, totaling 10,000 meters, employing two drilling rigs, and will disseminate assay results as they become available.
