Masdar has signed agreements with PT PLN (Persero) to develop floating solar power projects in Indonesia, including a new solar plant and an expansion of an existing facility, supporting Indonesia's renewable energy goals.
Target Overview
Masdar, the clean energy leader from the UAE, has established a strategic partnership with PT PLN (Persero), Indonesia's state-owned electricity provider, to advance floating solar power initiatives in Indonesia. The two entities have signed critical agreements that aim to develop innovative solar energy solutions in Southeast Asia, a region that holds vast potential for renewable energy expansion.
The first agreement involves a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a floating solar power plant at the Jatigede Dam reservoir located in West Java. This initiative follows Masdar's achievement of securing the lowest tariff in the Hijaunesia 2023 bidding program. The project is expected to kick off this year and reach completion by 2027. Additionally, a Principles of Agreement was signed to assess the potential expansion of the 145MWac Cirata Floating Photovoltaic Power Plant, the initial phase of which commenced operations in November 2023.
