Mosaic Company has entered into an agreement to sell its Carlsbad potash operations to International Minerals Carlsbad for $30 million, marking a strategic shift to focus on its core operations in Canada.

The Mosaic Company has announced the sale of Mosaic Potash Carlsbad, Inc., which encompasses the operational assets and liabilities of the Mosaic mine located in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The transaction is valued at $30 million, with an initial cash payment of $20 million and additional deferred cash consideration of $10 million, payable in three equal installments beginning in 2029. International Minerals Carlsbad, LLC will also take over the asset retirement obligations associated with the operations in Carlsbad.
This agreement is expected to close in the first half of 2026. Additionally, it includes the transfer of Mosaic's potash and water business in New Mexico along with associated intellectual property, such as the K-Mag and Dynamate brands. Karen Swager, Executive Vice President of Operations at Mosaic, emphasized the agreement's benefits for all involved parties and noted Mosaic's strategic shift to concentrate solely on core assets in Canada.
