Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc and Indigena Capital have jointly acquired a commercial property on TteS Reserve lands, marking a significant step towards establishing a co-partnered real estate development company that aims to enhance economic growth within the Nation.
Target Information
Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) and Indigena Capital, LP (Indigena) have announced their joint acquisition of a commercial property located on TteS Reserve lands. This property is backed by a long-term tenant with sovereign credit, marking the first co-partnered real estate transaction between TteS and Indigena. This acquisition lays the groundwork for the establishment of a larger real estate development company focused on acquiring, developing, and managing properties both on the Reserve and within the Nation’s Ancestral Territories. Following a close commercial relationship established since 2019, both parties view this joint venture as a significant opportunity to enhance economic growth and generate returns beyond the current lease revenues associated with the Nation's extensive leasing resources.
TteS consists of approximately 1,000 members residing on and off a 33,000-acre reserve. The Nation is committed to achieving self-sufficiency and independence through various initiatives, including education and economic development. Geographically, TteS lands are situated east of the North Thompson River and north of the South Thompson River, adjacent to Kamloops City. The Reserve has historically played a vital role in regional trade, with significant transportation infrastructure, including both the Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway, facilitating commerce through their territory.
