Goodwell Investments, in collaboration with Oikocredit and GP SVF, has provided USD 8.5 million in equity financing to Good Nature Agro to support its mission of empowering smallholder farmers in Zambia.
Information on the Target
Good Nature Agro (GNA) is a Zambian social enterprise that plays a pivotal role in supporting approximately 30,000 smallholder farmers across Southern Africa. The organization specializes in the cultivation of drought-resistant, early-maturing legume seed varieties, which include beans, cowpeas, soybeans, and groundnuts. Through its innovative agritech business model, GNA provides comprehensive support to farmers, encompassing access to inputs, input financing, climate-smart training, and a guaranteed market for high-value produce. This allows farmers to enhance their productivity and create a sustainable pathway out of poverty.
Since its inception in 2014, GNA has made significant strides in expanding its reach and influence in the agricultural sector. The company first attracted investment from Goodwell in 2020 through its uMunthu I fund, which helped GNA grow its operations and farmer engagement. With the recent opening of a new factory in Lukasa, GNA is poised for further expansion, with a goal to support 50,000 farmers by 2027.
