FRV Australia has secured financial closure for its 250 MW/500 MWh Gnarwarre Battery Energy Storage System project in Victoria, enhancing its renewable energy portfolio.
Information on the Target
FRV Australia has successfully reached a financial close for the Gnarwarre Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, which boasts a capacity of 250 MW/500 MWh. Located in Victoria, Australia, this project marks FRV Australia’s largest BESS endeavor to date, following their ongoing Terang 100MW/200MWh project. The Gnarwarre project will complement FRV’s existing portfolio, which is poised to achieve a total installed capacity of approximately 1.4 GW once the project is fully operational.
Gnarwarre is designed to enhance grid stability and supports Australia’s shift towards clean energy solutions. This strategic initiative includes the integration of grid-forming inverters, which will allow the battery system to provide critical stability services that have traditionally been delivered by synchronous generation methods, such as coal and gas.
