Exponent has divested a significant share of its stake in sustainable food ingredients leader Meadow to Fairfax Financial, while both parties aim to drive future growth through their aligned visions for sustainability and innovation.
Target Overview
Exponent has officially announced the divestment of a significant portion of its stake in Meadow, a prominent player in sustainable dairy, confectionery, and plant-based ingredients. Headquartered in the UK, Meadow collaborates with leading food manufacturers to address their most intricate challenges, supplying key ingredients that feature in many beloved UK brands. The company employs over 500 staff across five production sites located in Chester, Peterborough, Holme-on-Spalding Moor, Dolgellau, and Headcorn.
Exponent initially acquired a substantial interest in Meadow in 2018 alongside the Chantler family, focusing on category-leading businesses owned by families. Following the sale, both the Chantler family and Exponent will continue to hold stakes in Meadow. Under Exponent's stewardship, Meadow significantly expanded its production capabilities and diversified its product offerings through consistent organic growth and strategic acquisitions, including the establishment of a separate plant-based dairy facility and the acquisition of Nimbus Foods and Naked Foods.
