CPFL RGE invested R$ 4.2 million in Brazil's largest solar power plant in Uruguaiana, aimed at supplying energy to military healthcare units and significantly reducing their energy costs.
Target Information
CPFL RGE has successfully completed the installation of its largest Distributed Generation project in Uruguaiana, Brazil. This significant initiative involved an investment of R$ 4.2 million and features a centralized solar power plant with a capacity of 700 kWp. The facility will supply energy to the 22nd Group of Self-Propelled Artillery (GAC AP) and five military health units located in Santo Ângelo, Cruz Alta, Santa Maria, Uruguaiana, and Santiago. The project was executed through the CPFL nos Hospitais Program, leveraging support from the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) during the flooding events of 2024.
The establishment of this solar plant not only enhances the operational efficiency of the military health units but also significantly reduces their energy costs. Annually, it is projected to save over R$ 437.3 thousand, representing energy savings of approximately 910.59 MWh/year. Since the inception of the program in 2019, CPFL RGE has invested a total of R$ 109.84 million, benefitting 254 hospitals across its service area.
