Business Angels des Grandes Ecoles (BADGE) invests €1.5 million in the deeptech startup OPTIPUS PV, focusing on innovative organic photovoltaic technology.
Target Information
OPTIPUS PV, founded in late 2023, is a deeptech startup specializing in intelligent organic photovoltaic cells, known as Energyskin™. The company was established by co-founders Jörg Ackermann, Olivier Margeat, David Duché, and Benoît Bailliart, emerging as a spin-off from CNRS with innovations developed at the IM2NP and CiNAM laboratories. OPTIPUS PV focuses on creating ultra-thin, flexible, colorful, and recyclable organic photovoltaic modules that can turn any surface into a renewable energy source. From headphones and e-readers to bags and bicycles, Energyskin™ technology aims to minimize reliance on batteries and chargers, thereby reducing electronic waste.
Underpinned by nanostructured polymers, the Energyskin™ modules can generate electricity from light, achieving efficiencies of up to 15%. The startup holds several patents and production know-how that enhance performance, aesthetic appeal, and longevity. An initial application of this technology was showcased at VivaTech 2025, featuring a solar bicycle prototype developed in collaboration with Origine Cycles.
