Benbecula Distillery has secured a £1.5 million investment to enhance production and community engagement, marking a significant milestone in Scotland's whisky industry.
Target Information
Benbecula Distillery, located on the island of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides, is a newly established Scotch whisky distillery that has garnered a £1.5 million investment from the British Business Bank’s Investment Fund for Scotland, through Fund Manager Maven. Founded by Angus MacMillan, along with managing director Hector MacLeod, both of whom have deep roots in the local community, the distillery began production in the spring of 2024 reviving a 130-year-old recipe. By April 2025, Benbecula Distillery opened its visitor center and café, drawing in both locals and tourists with guided tours, whisky tastings, and island-inspired cuisine, while simultaneously fostering employment opportunities within the Hebridean community.
