The Baumit Group, a family-owned company based in Austria, reported a turnover of approximately EUR 1 billion in 2017, operating across 27 countries with all of its subsidiaries. Baumit is a part of Schmid Industrieholding, which achieved sales of EUR 1.7 billion and employed around 5,900 individuals as of December 31, 2017. In conjunction with this acquisition, Baumit has expanded its production capabilities by acquiring Cantillana, a family-run manufacturer of construction materials located in Deurle, Belgium, which also has production facilities in France and Germany.
This acquisition marks Baumit’s entry into the French market, which comes three decades after its initial entry into the European market. The acquisition of Cantillana enhances Baumit’s production capacity and significant distribution network, leading to nearly EUR 20 million in sales generated from existing sales locations near Paris and Lyon.
