They have pioneered the Madhepura Electric Locomotive Private Limited (MELPL), a joint venture focused on manufacturing high-powered electric locomotives for freight service. Over the past decade, Alstom has delivered over 550 indigenously manufactured locomotives known as the Prima T8, boasting a power output of 12,000 HP, significantly increasing India's freight capabilities.
