The University of Tokyo's Innovation Platform Company has invested approximately 300 million yen in Axelspace Corporation to support the development of a global Earth observation network through small satellite constellations.

The company was established by CEO Tomoya Nakamura, alongside notable alumni from Tokyo Institute of Technology, with the aim of creating new ways to utilize satellites, making this technology accessible not only to nations but also to various enterprises and individuals.

Axelspace has gained recognition in the space industry, successfully launching its small satellite WINSAT-1R and establishing itself as a pioneer among Japanese space ventures. The company is set to launch its own GRUS satellite on December 25 of this year and plans to deploy a constellation of several dozen GRUS satellites within a few years, facilitating daily imaging of the Earth’s surface.
