Cellnex Telecom has sold its Austrian business to a consortium led by Vauban Infrastructure Partners, EDF Invest, and MEAG for €803 million, aiming to refocus on its core markets and enhance shareholder value.
Information on the Target
Cellnex Telecom has successfully finalized the sale of its Austrian business, having operated in the country since early 2021. The company initially entered the Austrian market after acquiring CK Hutchison's telecommunications sites as part of a larger acquisition agreement encompassing six European countries, which included Austria. Currently, Cellnex manages approximately 4,600 sites within Austria's telecommunications infrastructure.
Following the closure of this transaction, Cellnex aims to streamline its operations and enhance growth opportunities in its core markets. Marco Patuano, CEO of Cellnex, emphasized that this divestment is a strategic move that will facilitate a more focused approach towards maintaining a robust balance sheet and propelling shareholder remuneration.
