TotalEnergies has launched BioNorrois, its eighth biomethane production unit in France, projected to supply renewable energy for 30,000 residents while significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
Target Information
BioNorrois is TotalEnergies' latest biomethane production facility, marking the company's eighth unit in France. Located in Fontaine-le-Dun, Normandy, BioNorrois is designed to produce 153 GWh of biomethane annually, enough to supply the average gas consumption of over 30,000 residents. Additionally, this facility will generate 150,000 tons of natural fertilizer each year, significantly contributing to local agricultural sustainability.
Partnering with Cristal Union, a prominent sugar producer based in France, BioNorrois will utilize up to 80% of its raw materials in the form of beet pulp, a byproduct from the sugar production process. This strategic collaboration not only strengthens the supply chain but also promotes a circular economy by ensuring that agricultural residues are effectively valorized.
