Spirent Communications plc has successfully acquired Imperfect Networks, Inc., a Massachusetts-based developer specializing in security testing solutions. This strategic acquisition is aimed at enhancing Spirent's capabilities in delivering advanced security testing options to its clientele across diverse markets. Initially, Spirent will pay $4 million in cash upon completion, with the potential for an additional $4 million contingent on meeting specific technical milestones and revenue targets by 2007. Imperfect Networks has a workforce of 11 dedicated employees, and its ThreatEx product has shown significant revenue growth in the first half of the year.
Since 2005, Spirent has been the exclusive reseller of the ThreatEx solution, which, when integrated with Spirent's existing AvalancheTM product, will offer robust verification systems against cyber threats. This combination will cater to the security needs of global network equipment manufacturers, service providers, and enterprises, aiming to mitigate the risks associated with network downtimes caused by malicious acts like viruses and attacks targeting VoIP and wireless LAN services.
