The European Investment Bank (EIB) has invested €20 million in the Amethis Europe Expansion fund, aimed at supporting the growth of European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Africa as well as in Europe and the Middle East. This investment reinforces the EIB's commitment to enhancing economic ties between Europe and Africa, facilitating private sector development, and promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.
This initiative will provide growth capital and strategic support to SMEs as they seek to establish a local presence in Africa through various means such as exports, partnerships, acquisitions, or direct investments. With a final capital of €143 million, the fund enjoys significant backing from European partners, including institutional private investors and development banks like Bpifrance and COFIDES, as part of the Team Europe initiative.
