Target Information
NVIDIA recently announced its groundbreaking autonomous driving chip, Thor, on September 20 at the 2022 Fall GTC conference. This chip is designed for central computing architectures in smart vehicles, boasting an extraordinary computing power of 2000 TOPS, which is twice that of its predecessor, Atlan, and eight times that of Orin. Thor is expected to be integrated into Geely's premium electric vehicle brand, Zeekr, by 2025. Unlike the earlier Atlan chip, which has been shelved, Thor offers flexibility in its application, providing computational support for various systems such as automated parking, intelligent driving, in-vehicle AI interfaces, dashboards, and driver monitoring. The chip allows automakers to customize the distribution of its 2000 TOPS among autonomous driving functions and other in-car entertainment features, potentially reducing vehicle computing costs substantially.
